What if I have GERD or acid reflux?

Updated Thu, Jan 04, 2024

There are several steps you can take to help lessen the symptoms of GERD/reflux, which is often associated with post-nasal drip:

  1.  6"" elevation of the head of your bed frame using solid blocks (available online as bed ""risers""). Alternatively, sleeping on a wedge pillow. This should not be underestimated!
  2.  Avoid irritating food (acidic foods such as citrus, vinegars, many spices, peppers, caffeine, alcohol)
  3. Avoid eating in the 3 hours before bedtime.
  4. Medications such as Pepcid/Famotidine (milder acid reduction) or a PPI (proton-pump inhibitor), such as Prilosec, Prevacid or Dexilant.
  5. Diagnostic evaluation by a gastroenterologist.
