How do I taper off of oral antihistamines?

Updated Thu, Jan 04, 2024

If you are taking OTC oral antihistamines regularly, you can overlap with Super Spray for 1-2 weeks as you adjust to Super Spray and taper down to avoid withdrawal symptoms by taking ½ tablet for 7-10 days, then ¼ tablet for a 7-10 days. If you find you do need the extra effects of an oral antihistamine on high allergen exposure days, we recommend fexofenadine (Allegra) or levocetirizine (Xyzal) over all the others.

Please do not discontinue your oral antihistamine if it was prescribed for a diagnosis other than rhinitis. Consult with your prescribing physician.
